Are 1p and 2p coins a nuisance, or a necessity?
The Treasury have announced that they’re going to review the use of 1p and 2p coins. Pennies could become a thing of the past!
Although there are no concrete plans to scrap 1p and 2p coins at the moment, we’re interested to hear what you think. Do you find 1p and 2p pieces necessary, or could you live without them? Vote in our poll below, and share your thoughts.
The review is happening due to statistics revealing that 60% of 1p and 2p coins are only used once before being stored in a jar or even being thrown away.
Physical money is being used less and less due to the increasing popularity of non-cash payments, such as card payments, contactless, and ApplePay.
